DON’T DISCOUNT YOURSELF FOR THE DREAMS GOD PUTS IN YOUR HEART!
God knows us more than we know ourselves. He created us and brought us into the right families. Everything about us was perfectly planned by God; our personalities, social backgrounds, etc. He knows everything about us, our capabilities, strengths, he even knows the number hair strands on our heads.
Before he puts a dream in our hearts, he studies us carefully and knows we’ve got everything we need for that dream and purpose in life. Should I say, God made us for our dreams. He has given us all the gifts and talents we need to fulfill each dream at every stage of our lives. Some of these gifts and talents are hidden and are only released by God at the right time and point in our lives.
However, our human minds may cause us to discount our dreams with reasons like; haven’t got the right educational level; not the right age; haven’t got a good financial background; haven’t got enough strength and power; haven’t got the right social status; etc.
The fact is, these are all suggestions from the devil to discourage you from achieving your purpose in life. The devil will like for you to give up and shrink back, so he works extremely hard to try and discourage you. But thank God, we serve a powerful God whose power and might is immeasurable. And whatever dream he puts in our hearts, he will always bring to pass, in Christ Jesus. As the bible says in Luke 1: 37, “For no word of God will ever fail.” This implies that, for every dream God has communicated to you, he will surely see you through to accomplishing it. All we need to do is to trust him, believe in his power and leave the rest in his hands.
For instance, if God puts a dream in a person’s heart to share his word, the person is only used as a vessel but the actual word being delivered comes from God. However, most of the time, we try to discount ourselves with reasons like; not the right age, haven’t got the resources we need, etc.
The fact is, Jesus started preaching in public places at the age of 30. (Luke 3: 23) It was quite a young age. Some of his followers were older than him. However, he preached the word of God with so much authority, that people started asking questions whenever he spoke.
A typical instance is in John 7:15-16; “The Jews there were amazed and asked, “How did this man get such learning without haven’t been taught? Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own, it comes from the one who sent me.”
This is a reassurance for us all that, when God calls us to share his word, we don’t have to worry about what to say, God himself will minister his word through you and will guide you in every step of the way.
The same principle applies to every dream God will put in your heart. Our God is a good father, he always has our best interest at heart, hence he will not put a dream in our hearts and leave us alone to suffer. However, as the bible says in Philippians 1:6; “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” This implies that, whatever dream that our Lord Jesus have started in you, he will carry on seeing you through to a successful completion until the day he returns. In other words, to every dream that God puts in your hearts, he always blesses you alongside with all the qualities and strengths we need to accomplish it.
Even though you may not have all the qualities yet, however if you will have faith in God and take that first bold step, God will intervene and see you through it all. He is a good God and he always looks out for his children. That’s why the bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 that, “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This is God’s promise to us, and one thing is, his promises are Yes and Amen in Christ Jesus.
A similar instance can be seen in the book of Judges 6. This talks about when an angel appeared to Gideon to let him know that God has chosen him to save the Israelites from the hands of their oppressors. (the Midianites) One interesting thing is, when the angel appeared to Gideon, he called him a ‘mighty hero’. Instantly, Gideon looked around and was wondering who that mighty hero was. He thought to himself that his family is the least in their community and no one regarded them as such. But that is the ways of our God, he does not choose like we humans do. And when it’s your time to be chosen for his favor, nothing can stand in the way.
Lo and behold, the same God who chose Gideon, guided him all the way through, blessed him with the strength and skills he needed and was able to defeat the Midianites with just 300 soldiers. Yes, he is God, and what he says he will do, he will definitely do!
Friends, God chooses us before we could choose our selves, his ways are not our ways. That’s why we don’t have to disregard ourselves for any of the dreams God puts in our hearts. Because, if he puts the dream in our hearts then he will guide us through to completing it successfully in Christ Jesus.
It is my prayer that, we start seeing ourselves as who God sees us to be, so we can embrace every dream he puts in our hearts and accomplish it successfully in Jesus’ name. AMEN!
