HOW ARE YOU DEALING WITH TROUBLES AS A BELIEVER?

John 16:33 that, “I have told you these things so in me you will have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

If we look at the bible in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; they all talk about the miracles Jesus did for mankind on his stay on earth. How he healed many who believed in him; how he drove out demons from those who were possessed with them; how he healed the blind and many more.

The truth is, Jesus came to earth to relieve mankind of the sorrows, stress and problems this life will throw at us. Our God is a good God, he knows the adversities and tribulations that we may have to go through in life. He is also aware of the fact that, it will be hard for our human nature to cope without his supernatural intervention. Hence the reason for giving us his son, Jesus Christ. Jesus also said in John 16:33 that, “I have told you these things so in me you will have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

John 14:13, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

One significant thing is, the people who received miracles and wonders from Jesus were those who believed in him as the son of God, his power and might. The teachers of the law on the other hand rebelled against his teachings and miracles hence did not receive much miracles from him.

Should we just conclude that the generation at that time were much favored than us? Not at all, Jesus was crucified and died on the cross, he resurrected and went to heaven. However, he didn’t leave us completely. He left us with his name. As it is written in John 14:13, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

The fact is Jesus left us in person, but his spirit still lives with us and within us. And he is saying that, if we believe in his might and power that he can do all things, then whatever we ask in his name, he hears us, and he will do it for us. How amazing! Friends our God is willing to give us the world, the only thing that is stopping him is our faith.

Our God is willing to give us the world, the only thing that is stopping him is our faith.

It is undeniable that most of us are good at asking, however, when it comes to trusting, believing and waiting on God, it becomes a bit of a problem. The fact is, we cannot do without our faith in God. Our Christian life revolves around it. As the bible says, “For without faith it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)

If we study the bible carefully, it can easily be concluded that, the people of those times had so much faith in God. They believed God for their total existence. As a result, they saw a lot of miracles in their lives. People sort after God wholeheartedly, hence they always had their prayers answered.

The question then is “what changed?” Because our Lord God is still the same, yesterday, today and forever, He never changes. (Hebrew 13:8) The bible also says in Mark 13:3 that “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” This shows us that the word of God hasn’t changed either. What this implies is that, it all comes down to us, mankind. What are we doing or not doing that is affecting our faith in God thus bridging the presence of Holy Spirit and his supernatural works in our lives?

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Mark 13:3)

Could it be that we rely on our own knowledge a lot these days than before? Many people like to seek answers of their problems from other people rather than going to God. Most of the times when people are in trouble, they tend to find out from people who have been in similar situations and they use their outcome to conclude the outcome of their problems. This sometimes affect their faith, because they might have already concluded that, their situation will be too difficult to turn around. Whereas, if we look at Jeremiah 32: 27, it says, “I am the LORD, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?”

Also, the existence of too much technology has pushed a lot of people to search for solutions to all their problems on the internet, rather than praying to God. For instance, some people when they are sick, try to search the survival rate of that sickness on the internet and sometimes the results they get on there, is so negative that, it end up putting fear and stress on them worsening their situation and as a result affecting their faith.

Whereas as a believer, our bible which is the word of God tells us in Mark 10:27 that, “……. With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." The bible says nothing is impossible for our God. He has got solutions to any problem. Therefore whatever, problem that you may be going through, is not too hard for him. Instead of stressing yourself looking for solutions elsewhere, why not turn it to God. And if you turn it to him in faith, he will turn the situation around for your good.

It is my prayer that we learn to totally submit ourselves and our problems to God, so we can experience the joy, peace, and everything we need to enjoy the abundant life he has called us into. AMEN!
