Therefore put on the whole armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, ....... (Ephesians 6: 13)

Ephesians 6: 12;

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

We currently live in a world where the fast growing of technology and knowledge have caused most believers to forget about their spiritual life. People have gradually developed the habit of limiting their Christian life to that “one day of the week” when they go to fellowship together in church. However, being a Christian is more than that. We have to develop the practice of seeking the face of God in everything we do. When we do that, we develop a strong relationship with the Holy Spirit, and he guides and directs all our ways, so we do not go off course easily.

When we develop a strong relationship with the Holy Spirit, He guides and directs us in all our ways.

The practice of limiting our Christian life to one day of the week can weaken our relationship with God and the Holy Spirit, as a result, making us prey to the devil. As the bible says that the devil prowls like a lion looking for whom to devour. (1 Peter 5: 8) One significant thing is, the devil rejoices when our connection with the Holy Spirit is distorted, because he knows he can easily manipulate us to fulfill his wicked plans.

Also, when we have a weak connection with the Holy Spirit, we become weak in our spirits. Our spirit controls the flesh; therefore a weak spirit can lead the flesh astray. The more reason why some people can easily say no to some sins, whereas others find it hard saying no to the same sin.

The bible says that the devil only came to steal, to destroy and to kill. (John 10: 10) And as believers, if we allow the devil into our lives, he will destroy everything that we’ve got, including our peace and joy. The more reason why the bible encourages us to be alert, sober minded and vigilant all the time. That way we will be able to detect the ways and strategies of the devil and through prayers and the strength of God, we can rise above them all.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5, 8)

One significant thing we should all know is; the way the devil attacks believers these days is very subtle, that if care is not taken before we realize a lot of damage would have already been done. And with the way we lead our lives now, it makes it easier for the devil to sneakily attack Christians. These days people rely on their own knowledge and wisdom than on the word of God for answers to their problems. As a result, makes it easier for the devil to lead people astray.

The devil sneakily attacks believers in a lot of different ways. It could be through sickness, in their finances, through people’s marriages, by stealing their peace, etc.

Through Sickness;

Looking in the bible, when people were sick, they sort for complete healing through prayers. People totally and completely depended on God for everything. The bible also says in James 5: 14-15 that, “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well. ……… “

That is not always the case these days. We are lucky to have a lot of skilled doctors and hospitals around. However, when you seek medical help, don’t stop there, try and back it up with prayers. Most of the time when you are dealing with sickness and disease, it is the devil. And that is the reason why, some people will go to the hospital with one illness, they will be treated and completely healed. However, shortly after they will start to suffer from a different type of disease. It almost feels like, it becomes a routine of their life, always going in and out of hospitals with different illnesses. When they get rid of one, another resurfaces shortly after.

And when you live in a country that pays lots of money for medical bills, before you realise all your income will be going towards medical bills. As believers, when you realise this, you need to realise it is the devil and not just some random illnesses attacking one person.

Through People’s marriages;

Marriage is an institution ordained by God to be enjoyed by those involved. However, the devil hates to see marriage couples have peace and joy. Therefore, he works extremely hard to get into marriages to cause chaos thereby disturbing the peace of the couple involved. The devil can use one or both partners involved to keep offending each other therefore destroying the peace in the marriage.

One important thing is when you notice any negative change in your partner, don’t take it lightly. Sometimes, people can give excuses like because they are getting used to each other, hence the reason for that negative change. However, it might just be the act of the devil to ruin the marriage, and if not taken care of, can escalate to a very huge problem. That’s why the bible encourages believers to pray always.

When you notice any negative change about your partner, don't take it lightly, pray about it.

Through People’s finances;

The devil targets people in their finances through a lot of different ways. The obvious one, which is causing people to lose their jobs. Therefore, making it hard for them to meet their daily needs. The devil can also cause some misfortune to happen to people. Like some strange sickness attacking their loved ones, where they end up spending all their money on them and still end up losing them. It could also be collapsing of one’s business where they end up losing everything they’ve worked for in their lives.

Also, the devil sometimes puts it in people’s minds that they are supposed to live a life of lack. They live their lives been bound with this thought, as a result they are not able to stretch themselves a different level in life.

There are a lot of other different ways the devil attacks people in their finances and the only way, we can stop all these is through constant prayers.

All of the above can cause believers to lose their peace in life. That is the ultimate aim of the devil, to cause believers to live unhappily. But the great news is we serve a God who is much more powerful than any form of attack, that will be formed against us by the devil. Therefore, when we walk in truth and honesty with God, we have no reason to fear. Because he has promised he will cause his angels to protect us.

It is my prayer that we seek God diligently, so we can always walk under his shield of protection. AMEN!
