WHO DOES GOD SEE YOU TO BE?

According to the bible, in the book of Genesis 1, among all of God’s creation, he called everything into being; day, night, animals in the sky and in the sea, etc. After commanding all these into being, the scriptures say, in verse 25 that; “And God saw that it was good.” Then on the sixth day, God took his time and made mankind in his own image and in his likeness.

God sees us to be confident, courageous, loved, happy, victorious, conquerors, above, prosperous, beautiful, blessed, strong, redeemed, healthy, valuable, equipped, anointed, amazing, forgiven, great and everything good.

If we read verse 27, the bible stresses on the fact that God made man in His own image. This shows how special we are to God among other creations he made. And verse 29-30 also talks about how God gave mankind power to rule over all other creatures in the sky, in the sea and on land. This also explains how high God has placed mankind. He does not see us as ordinary creation but very high above every other creature on earth. And more importantly, if we read verse 31, it says that, after making Human “God saw all that He had made, and it was VERY good.”

There is a key point here; after every other creation called into place, God said it was good, but when He made mankind in His own image, He looked at them and said they were VERY good. All the above shows how high God has placed us and how important He sees us to be. God expects us to see ourselves the same way. He wants us to see ourselves as confident, courageous, loved, happy, victorious, conquerors, above, prosperous, beautiful, blessed, strong, redeemed, healthy, valuable, equipped, anointed, amazing, forgiven, great and everything good.

The devil hates to see mankind grow and prosper, as a result works very hard to stop this from happening. However, no matter how hard he works, God word will surely prevail in our lives. AMEN!

The devil on the other hand, is working extra hard to make sure this doesn’t happen. The devil does not want mankind to see themselves as worthwhile. In fact, he will love for mankind to go around seeing themselves as poor, unhappy, inferior, unworthy, weak, cursed and everything negative. The fact is, if you don’t see yourself as worthwhile, you can never accomplish anything great in life. And that’s exactly what the devil wants. He hates to see mankind grow and prosper in any aspect of life.

The devil will suggest into people’s minds, ‘you are not beautiful.’ And he does not even stop there, he will make sure, he gets people to vocalize those negative words to them. So, as a result, a lot of people walk around believing that they look ugly. Whereas the actual truth is God made each and every one of us in His own image as it is stated in Genesis 1: 27. If God made us to be like Him, then there is no way any of us is ugly. We are all beautiful in our own unique ways.

We are all beautiful in our own unique ways.

The devil will suggest into people’s minds that they are not good enough for anything. And then he will go ahead and cause about two or three major failures in their lives, just to make sure they believe that His suggestions to them are true. Whereas the bible says in Philippians 4:13 that; “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” So whenever, we feel stuck in life, whenever we feel unworthy, we shouldn’t let that discourage us, but rather ask God for His strength to carry us through. And when we ask, he will bless us with his strength beyond measure.

The devil will also suggest to people that, they will always be poor in all their lives. Whereas, God did not create any of us to live a life of lack all our lives. Some misfortune might have happened at some points of our lives, but that does not mean, that’s who we are. The bible says in Philippians 4:19 that, “But my God shall supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." This shows that God doesn’t want His children to live in lack. It’s the devil’s cunning way of convincing people to settle for mediocrity in life instead of working hard to push themselves to a different level. Also, the bible says in Deuteronomy 28: 12-13, that “…………. You shall lend to many nations but shall not borrow. And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only and not beneath, if you heed to the commandments of the Lord your God, ……….." This implies that if we obey God, He will bless our handiwork and cause us to also be a blessing to others as well.

Philippians 4:19, “But my God shall supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.".

The devil will also suggest defeated words to people’s minds and as a result, they walk around in life defeated all the time. The way we see ourselves especially in difficult times is very important. Imagine you going to war with a defeated mindset, the slightest thing the enemy will do can easily cause you to give up and run away. The same way, when you go through life defeated, the slightest challenge that comes your way can cause you to give up and as a result cause you to settle for a mediocre life. Our God sees us to be victors any day and any time, even when we find ourselves in the deepest pit of life, He still calls us victors. The bible says in Romans 8: 37 that; “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” This shows that our God sees us to be conquerors and not defeats, because in God there is no failure. The bible also says in 1 Corinthians 15: 57 that, “But thanks to God, who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus.” This implies that once we have Jesus, we are always victors and never victims.

Lastly, the devil will also suggest fear to people. Fear may present itself in a lot of different ways. The devil may hold people bound in fear that they get too scared to start anything big in their lives. They are scared of failing after starting. However, it is always better to start and fail rather than not starting at all. At least, when you start and fail, you learn some experience that you can use in other areas of your life. Sometimes, the things that the devil is working overtime trying to discourage us from are the very things that will take us into greatness. Let us learn to resist fear using the word of God. The bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7; “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Finally, if we know who we are in Christ, it helps us to notice that a negative situation that we may find ourselves in does not come from God hence encourages us to work extremely hard to get out of it.

One may ask, ‘how do we avoid these negative things from happening in our lives?’ The only answer is by praying persistently and constantly studying the word of God. As His word teaches us to know who we are and also guide and encourage us in difficult times. And also, always remembering the fact, there is no failure and defeat in God, we are all victors in JESUS’ NAME. Amen!!!!
